What is Powder Coating?
Tired of chipped paint? Powder coating is a cool way to give things a tough, colorful new layer. Instead of using wet paint, this process uses a dry powder that sticks to the surface with a special electric charge. Then, they heat it up to make it smooth and strong.
Powder coating is great because it lasts a long time and comes in tons of colors (we have over 50!), so you can find the perfect shade for your project. It can even be used on all sorts of things, not just metal, but also plastic and even wood!
Coating Consideration
Powder coating typically does not need mechanical finishing because it covers and smooths the surface.
Each coated surface normally gains 0.001′′ to 0.003′′ from powder coating, and corners are slightly rounded.
Glossy surfaces show scratches and abrasions more than textured and matte ones do.
Due to the electrostatic procedure, interior corners and deep pockets might not be covered.
Small amounts of powder may gather in the holes, obstructing the threading and mating of the pieces. Requests for plugging, redrilling, or retaping are optional.
