Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Poly ethylene terephthalate PET may seem similar, they exhibit significant occupational differences in use and capabilities despite both being made of the same elements industrially means that applying this basic resin would be nonsensical to any given manufacturing specialty

PET (Polyethylene terephthalate)This is the polymer of choice for making almost all drink and fruit containers. Lightweight, clear and also you can select the colour of it. It is a type of polyester as it belongs to the ester group.

PET has been approved by the health safety boards and is deemed to be a safe chemical for packaging because PET IS safe. Its structure prevents it from interacting with anything the material comes into contact and thus PET bottles can present no risk at all in terms of liquids (or food) that are consumed, or handled.

When it is as a natural (unstretched and uncarboxylated) homopolymer, PET appears transparent in the frame of thicknesses of more than 1 mm; acknowledges surface shiny when aspect completed. PET is rigid to semi-rigid when processed.

The downside: PET does not biodegrade rapidly in the environment. Those wipes, and water bottles, or these product packs we throw in a bin will remain with us well somewhat forever. PET also has questions about biodegradability and may be toxic.

PP vs PET How to choose which to use Originally, PET is stronger and more rigid / impact-resistant than PP. PET material may be more appropriate for products such as bottles and jars that need to have high durability.

PVC residue post production with antimony still in the plastic. The EPA has placed antimony on its Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) list, setting a maximum level of 6 micrograms per liter for this metalloid in drinking water. There is little leaching of antimony into water from PET under room temperature conditions. However, antimony does leach out at dangerous levels in extreme heat (185°F).

Typically, a plastic water bottle will have the recycling symbol. The number in the symbol corresponds to 1-7 types of plastic bottles. Common types: PET (1), HDPE-2, LDPE-4

PET gives excellent strength, toughness and is abrasion & heat resistant it has been the popular choice in production of carbonated beverage bottles with low creep at elevated temperatures; good chemical resistance but suffers from poor performance when exposed to UV radiation.
